If I have a divorce degree stating that my EX is responsible for this bill will LVNV honor this and remove from my credit report?

Hi tbdb,

A collection agency is required to honor a divorce decree. However, I think it also depends on the state laws. You can contact a family attorney, and inquire into the matter. While disputing this item off your report, you must attach a copy of your divorce decree.

However, if the company does not want to dispute this item, you can try to dispute this with the credit bureaus. You can refer to a sample dispute letter available at http://www.creditmagic.org/repair/dispute-letter.html .

Hope this helps.

Hello, Most must go by the divorce decree. did you have an atty for your divorce? If so see if they will handle this as part of your case. you could also send them copies (NOT THE ORIGINAL) by certified mail with a letter requesting removal. If you want to know if they have to remove it by law try calling your atty general. They are good for a quick reference and can give you a definate anwser.
