2003 I closed my Macys card-MCYDSNB- I check my credit report once per year. Macys is still reporting my balance history with each year that passes-this keeps them on my credit report for 10 years from the last history date-The last report showed 12/2006, all of 2007 and all of 2008 as $0 balance-I have written, called etc but can not stop them-any suggestions??

The negative mark shows on your credit report for seven years and six months from the date of your delinquency towards the debt. Even if you pay off the debt, it will show as negative in your credit report for this seven year period. Now, if this period has already expired and the creditor (MACY departmental store credit card) do not bother to remove the listing from your report, send a dispute letter to the credit bureaus telling them that you do not agree with this negative mark and the bureaus will get them removed from your credit report.

Hi Renny
Can you tell us the date of your last payment towards the credit card debt? If the last payment towards Macy's credit card has crossed 7 years, then it can no longer be reported in your credit report. You can send a dispute letter to the credit bureaus and tell them that you do not agree with MACY's listing. The bureaus will get it removed after verifying it with the creditor.

There is no negative mark on my credit report for Macys- Macys reports a $0 balance each month on a closed account in good stanidng (closed in 2003)-This is not in my interest, instead the account is scheduled to continue on record until 2008 because they reported $0 balance History for all these years. I called them again today and they claim it will be gone in 3 weeks- lets wait and see.

I have many listing on my credit report from companys that have them listed as "Open". This is causing my Credit Score to be lowered with all the accounts that are still listed as open even though they have a 0 Balance. They don't list any phone numbers or even the name of the company. Many of them are just a bunch of letters. Since I have used these accounts in many years I have no idea how or who I should call or get hold of to get these accounts off my credit report. Any ideas on how you get the correct names of the companys or account numbers or phone numbers? They give you all the numbers of the account number except the last 4 numbers. The few companys that I have contacted have no idea about the open account.
