Credit report

I recently pulled my credit report. The negative I expected to be there still is but I see where Midland purchased the debt some time back. First this is to fall off my report by october but there is a couple questions I have.

Under Midland listing it has: Type: open, date opened: 9/2007, date reported: 7/2010, First del: 10/2003, last act: n/a, first major del: 2/2008.

So will this fall off in october as the other reports list is my first question and the second one is, What is this first major del.? How can it be in Feb. 2008 when there has been no activity on this account since 2003. I have never interacted with Midland at all. Is there anything I should dispute on this or wait and see if it falls off come october?

Hi fireyone,

What is this first major del.?

It must mean first major delinquency. However, you have mentioned that there's been no activity on this account after 2003. Thus, this must be related to illegal reaging of debt. So, I think you should immediately dispute this, else this won't drop off by October this year.

Thanks,

Aaron

Thanks for the quick reply. Should I get back on the credit report I pulled and dispute it there or by letter. also on what grounds do I dispute it? I Have not disputed before and know of the procedure and how it works but need to know how I list the reason for dispute.

Hi fireyone,

You should dispute this by letter. You will have proof atleast.

You can dispute this on grounds of illegal reaging. I think the sample dispute letter available with this community will help you in writing your own dispute letter. You may have to change the words according to your problem.

Thanks a lot Aaron. I will do as soon as possible. I did not veiw all my reports because I like to spread them out through the year. Should I send to all agencies or just equifax?

Hi Guest,

You are welcome :)

Should I send to all agencies or just equifax?

If the dates has been changed on all the three bureau reports then you will have to send the dispute letters to all the three. Else, if it is only there on Equifax report you can dispute only with Equifax.

Thanks,

Aaron
