I just seen a news article that they are trying to pass a bill about credit reports. The are asking that credit reports no longer be able to hurt someone's employment chances. I hear so Far there are about 13 states that want this passed. It is saying what a lot have mentioned here before: that if they use your credit report then if you do end up in a bad situation, like sickness, then your report hinders you when trying to get another decent job.
I don't know what others think but I do believe this would be good for a lot of Americans..especially now with the fallen economy and situations with credit that were out of American's hands when the bottom fell out. |

Hi fireyone,
If this will get passed, it will help the job seekers a lot; mainly those trying to get a new job to cope with huge amount of debts. How you are handling your debt and credit, should not always determine whether or not a job seeker can qualify for the job. This will bring a great deal of change in the job market and the life of the debtors.
Thanks,

Hello all,
The bill on credit checks has been passed this Monday. It states that not all employers will be able to conduct a credit check on the credit histories of the job seekers. Most of the people are of the opinion that credit history cannot always determine a person's capability to work in an office.
Those who are opposing this bill are of the opinion that this is an improper decision. However, some employers like banks and law enforcement agencies are allowed to conduct the checks on the credit histories of job seekers.
Thanks,
Rosetta |

| Mmm...I haven't heard of that one. However...yes..you're correct. This Bill WOULD help out alot of people. I know 'good' people who have had just 'bad' tough times. And..the 'tough times' shouldn't be held aqainst them. |

I agree. I really do hope this passes. I relize the defaults of white collar crime but they always say it takes one rotten egg to ruin them all. These people should not stop an honest person who has fallen down on their luck keep from getting back on track.
The other thing that annoys me with the whole credit report thing is when car insurance companies can pull it and use it when determining your rates. Credit history has nothing to do with how safe a driver you are. Personally I believe they have taken this too far and really feel for the people who got behind on debt due to some unfortunate situation. Not only do they have to deal with trying to catch themselves up but have to face car insurance hikes and possibly not getting a better job all do to this. |
