Can I dispute someone from pulling my credit report without

I was browsing my report from an identity alert and found out that a company named Mann Bracken from Maryland checked my file and requested a copy of my report. I know of no such person. Why was this allowed and how do I stop it?

Hi Ruthie,

It is an unauthorized inquiry and I don't think it will affect your credit score much. However, you can notify the credit reporting agencies regarding the inquiries and send a letter to remove the credit inquiry. You can find a sample letter here:

Thankyou Justin, you are a big help. But yes it has affected my score. I don't know who these people are and I have had credit problems. I am still trying to clean up my credit. I had alot of bills when I went thru Chemo, but I did have disability ins on them and I have 2 credit cards that said they never paid. But I have some documentation so I am asking them for a validation letter first. I did get that info from your site yesterday, and they went out today. Again Thankyou.

A lot of collection companies like to look at your report just before they place a negative item on it also .And as for the inquires ,if you have more than 4 within a 2 year period it affects your score ,the points vary from 3 points as far up as 12 points per inquire so call these people and verify what it is and for what service or goods,and if its still not yours dispute it.Be patient though these cra,s will give you a hard time on disputing inquires unless you have a police report or identity fraud report.Experian really does I sent them a police report stating that some inquires wasnt mine and demanded that they be blocked under the fcra section 605.And all they did was send me a letter stating my credit report was invalid.So good luck!
