Subject: Credit cards closed by grantor

I had credit cards that are listed on my credit report that are listed as pay as agreed and since I didn't use them it has closed by grantor which looks bad on my report and score. Is there any thing I can do to fix this? I did not want them closed.

You can write a letter to the credit reporting agency and tell them what you stated here, maybe they will remove it, I filed a dispute on one and I don't think that the company responded and they removed it. All you can do is try.

Debra, Hello and welcome. Alot of companies will close cards that have not had any activity on them. My Fashion Bug one did this a couple years ago when I paid it off and did not charge anything for 6 months. It was really a short amount of time. I went down to the store and asked them to reactivate it. If your cards have not been closed for long now would be the time to go and re-open them. If a certain period of time elapses you may have to re- apply for the credit card.
Call any of the cards that you can not go to the store to re-open. Remember you should probaly recheck all the interest rates because they may have been changed. Most send letters in with their monthly statements when they change rates or payments on someones account. Since you have not got a monthly bill for a while you may not be aware of some of these changes.
After you get the cards re-opened I would try to charge a small amount and pay it off over a couple month period. this will keep them from re closing the cards in the future.

I thought they had to notify you before closeing them but they didn't. I know people that have had cards for years and they never use them but they are still open.
