I am in the same boat, title was paid off years ago, can not get a release... I just got off the phone with the title agency in albany, she said the only option is to get a release from the company that took over for charter one, or get a court order... hmmm, this should be interesting.

Hi jodi,

Can you tell whether or not you got agreement in writing that all negatives will be removed, and the lien will be removed once you pay off the dues? If you have it, and if you have the payment proof, then you use it to remove the lien from your car.

Thanks,

Aaron

Hi James Miller Jones,

You will have to pay off the dues in order to get a title release. However, if you could have provided more details on this debt, I could have helped you in your problem.

Thanks,

Aaron

Hi James,

I have said in my above post that you need to pay off the dues on your account in order to remove the lien from the title. Before making the payments, get a payment agreement.

Thanks,

Aaron

Same problem here we paid our truck off 5 years ago and still have Charter one as lein holder. I contacted Citizens and they said they would research it and send me a notice that the lein was paid and said I should recieve it in 3 to 5 business days. No luck yet! That was about 10 days ago.
