Hello CreditMagic,

I have recently contacted a collection agency (LVNV collections) that was reporting 3+ years old (expired SOL in Washington, DC) asking them to stop reporting it on my credit file.

The original creditor (Discover card) has now contacted me with following letter:

"We are in receipt of your letter which indicates your account has reached the SOL in your state and should be removed from your credit file. We have verified this information to be inaccurate.

The SOL does not satisfy your obligation to repay the amount owing to the original creditor.

Please contact us to make payment arrangements..."

I am certain that the SOL has expired, what would you recommend my next step to be?

Thank you in advance,
Dalia

Hi dalia.yali,

Welcome to this community :)

You need to show proof of the last payment made. If can get hold of the copy of your credit report with the last payment date on it, and the payment receipt. With these proofs you can dispute this item. However, first find out for yourself if the Statute of Limitations on this debt has really expired.

I think you should also talk to an attorney about this.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Aaron
