What is your credit Score ???

That would be a nice break and surely as you say, a great incentive to pay some old debt off instead of just ignoring it.

That's what I mean erb, it would be a great if they did cut your time for reporting it down.

As nice as that would be for ppl who want o improve their credit for good, Buisnesses would loose money left and right to ppl who perpetually abused accounts and credit and then paid it off at a later time. I feel that late payments should be recorded for 2 years and charged off acounts etc 3 or 4 in order to gives buisnesses a good idea of your credit responcibility

I fell it is very misleading. Because, people like my self has a good reason why my credit score is the way it is. All people look at is credit and not the circumstances.

Your are right to be discouraged bsimple. Not all people are in the situation they are in because they wanted to be. It is usually because they had to be. Keep your head up and remember Nothing lasts forever.

unfortunately it is like your credit resume and if your credit report is bad you end up paying the price in many ways.

Did you know that you can make comments on your credit report, when you view it, look at each item, you can leave an explaination there and your potential lender or employer or anyone who inquires about your report will see your comments also.

Wow that is the first time I have heard about that. What a great idea especially those seeking employment. I think whoever thought of this had one great idea.

That is an excellent idea, do employers take the time to read the comments do you think?

When I found out that employers now pull your credit report to hire you I was about blown away. I can see this in the banking industry or any type of money handling..to a point. Just because you get behind doesn;t mean that you are a rip off. I guess I am looking at the honest persons side of things. To me it seems like a form of discrimination.

Working in the employment industry, I can see some employeers need to do it just because of the money handling and the issuing of company credit cards.

I have heard that people with bad credit are more likely to file a compensation claim because they are in need of money, how true, I am not sure, never seen any statistics on this, but I am sure that somebody, somewhere did a study and reported this information.

My husband worked with a guy that let his whole family use his company gas card, racked up around $5000 in one month, he lost his job because of it. His wife was in remission for cancer, they lost their medical, it was a mess. I felt bad for her. They were a nice couple, I am sure that they did not think that this would be the outcome of their behavior.

What I think it that the employers check the credit report because they find all correct personal information from the report like the year of birth, marital status, and the social security number. Moreover the credit report gives the employers a clear idea of a person's credit history and how responsible he is in paying the debt. From this they can analyze how responsible will he be in his job.

I guess this checking has its good and bad points. I was more refrring to the person who just had a spell of bad lick and was working to improve their life. Speaking of gas cards some trucker recently had one he stole from a business here in PA. He used it to putchase gas for a year or so but the company figured it out an he had lots to repay.

yeah, I seen that on the news, what he did is just down right criminal though, what would make him think that he would actually get a way with it? I guess people do stupid things for the strangest reason. My husband worked with a guy like that, his whole family used the company card, they had like a $5000 bill in a little over a month, his wife had cancer and was in remission they really needed the medical benefits and he jeapordized it. He lost his job, his medical benefits, the whole nine yards. It was a sad situation.

Our company pulled the biggies gas cards. Now there is just one and you have to log the reciept, list what it was for and staple the reciept to the page, I can see why.

Hi Wendel34
499 is really a very bad credit score and so you should take steps to build up your score. I think that you have missed some mortgage payments and other outstanding debts, as a result of which your credit score has dropped down so much. Can you give us the details of your debts so that we can help you out in increasing your credit score.
