I have a credit card account that was charged-off and then sold to a collection agency. I disputed the charge-off with the OC. The OC sent me a letter saying that the account was sold to a collection agency and that i would have to deal directly with them. When I did a validation request with the CA they sent some paper work with numbers on it representing the balance and the interest, late fees and so on. However, nothing was provided to clearly establish the debt as belonging to me. Being that the OC will not deal with me regarding the debt (because it was sold) do they still have a legal right to report this to the credit bureaus. And even worse, the CA is claiming to be the new Original Creditor. How is that even possible. Under FDCPA they're just a collection agency. How do I fight this.
