Why is my score still so low

I had many credit card issues and a repossession when I was younger. This was the case at least 9 years ago. When I pulled up my credit report now, I still have 4 negative things still showing.

I sent a letter to each company with my intentions of paying these items off, but requested that they take the item off of the reports. Is there any way this is going to work?

I do have my student loan on there in addition that was finally paid off but was severely late. Also, I haven't gotten my score but did get the range from Equifax, and it's in the high 500s. Why is it still so low with only 4 items on there?

Thank you

Hi Anakin,

Can you tell whether the 4 negatives are from the past, or are these on your report because of any present card issues?

If these are from the past, can I know the status of these accounts on your credit report? Are these accounts under the collection agencies? If these accounts are from the past, then you may have made a mistake by sending them letters on payments, because these accounts may have past the Statute of Limitations (SOL).

Thanks,

Aaron
