Subject: Student Loan Garnishment

Posted on Wed Nov 09, 2011 7:35 am

Next month I will be going to court to settle my worker's comp case in CA. I plan on taking the full settlement amount instead of receiving bi monthly payments. Because I have been unable to work as a result of my injury I am in default of my student loans. Once I receive my worker's comp disability settlement can the government take what I owe in student loans out of my settlement money?

We live in MN and my son started to receive RSDI. Now child support is taking 65% of his check for back child support. Is this legal?

I hope all you against ssd burn in hell. fuck half your income taken out is not enough to live. So my self and others close will have to die. Believe me, you'll read about it in the news.

I'm under a lot of stress since the chidren and I will be living on the godamn streets thanks to half my ssdi being taken. You women are heartless bitches, who can't take care of themselves, so you team up with the csea to slowly, kill us. I'm getting off ssd, staying on SSI so they can't garnish, stay on pmha, collect 600 in foodstamps, and live the good life, with our Medicaid cards.

Subject: SSDI and wage garnishment of wife

I am married. My wife works part time. I collect SSDI. I have a judgment against me in civil court. They are trying to garnish my wife's wages. She does not earn much, but does work 20 hours per week. Can HER wages be garnished to satisfy my debt? Can my SSDI be considered as "income" to her to "boost" her take home pay for the purposes of wage garnishment?

just by what you say, No, the $ you get is yours to do what you want, there is no amt etc.
are you being sued of something else?
you should call your local veterans center or the va
benefits call line.

Subject: SSDI and child support

65% of my husband's back pay from SSDI was taken for owed Child support in Ca. (we are in NY). this totalled $7,000. I do work and make about $21,000 a year. Is there some kind of tax break we could get for the $7,000. I am not at all bitter about the money, after all he did owe it. I am just hoping there is something that we could so we don't have to pay again.

Subject: City Taxes

I worked for two years and only owed 200 in city taxes, but they never sent me invoice reminders and let four years go by without notifying me. They put so many fines on it that it went above 1000, and I have paid 400 to them. I don't want to pay them another cent and my question is can they garnish my disability check which is not that much to collect the rest?
