'CGEORGE'....( I know this is an older post)......I think you're right. Alot of the "expert" credit counselers do want to make a fast buck. I was invloved with a so-called credit repair company. To make a long story short their "fees", every month, seemed to be more and more. Soon, I was realizing I was going MORE into debt with them. Not good!! Thanks for the website.

Well..I looked at the website above. I may find a "ton of information to do it myself", but, there is a fee to the book/PDF. and..I refuse to pay for 'free' information.

I can't speak for all companies that offer credit repair, but I can say without a doubt that DSI Solutions is a SCAM! They don't even actually send out the letters that they say they do, and their customer service is a joke. Very rude and unprofessional, they just want your money. Steer clear. Anyone that comes on here and says DSI Solutions is the way to go is either an employee or an affiliate of that company.

I am 52 yr of age i have used just one credit repair co all this time.
In my house the wife and I take turn's . Getting credit repair done
why is the cost. As for what you need to do is work on your three
of your report's get as much done on your own. Start with,
personal information On all three report's this need's to say the
same thing. Update name, address, Telephone number, so on.
Review account information, learn how to use Rating key's.
After you clean up as much as you can then look for credit repair
This will save you money. My wife and use lexington law we stay,
for six mo to one yr . Do as much as you can to help yourself

All of debt settlement copemnias are scams. They promise the world but can't deliver after taking your money. When we got those debt settlement letters while I worked at credit union, we just disregarded it. We would then contact the member giving them information on consumer credit counseling a national non profit organization. They work with creditors to reduce payments and interest rate. If member wasn't interested in doing that we forwarded for legal action.

Forget credit reapir companies. Most are pure scam. Even the legit ones only do what you can easily do yourself. There are no special letters or secret procedures to clean up your credit.Get a copy of your credit report (AnnualCreditReport.com). If there are errors, dispute them with the credit bureau. Legitimate negative items age off your credit report 7-1/2 years from the date of first deficiency. The older the item, the less impact on your score. If any of your derogatory items are single entry items, like medical or utility bills, you can try to negotiate pay for delete agreements (you pay $x and they remove the item) with the collection agencies. This doens't work for regularly reported items like credit cards and installment loans. The collection agency can only remove what they report. The original creditor's charge off would remain. If you have open credit card accounts, use them and pay off the balance in full every month. If you don't have a credit card, get one, even if you have to get a secured card you pay a deposit which is held as collateral against the line of credit. You need to build up at least 24 months of consistent, on time payment history to improve your score.

Thanks roadwarior2125, I have heard some peploe have had great success with Lexington Law. I myself have never used their service. I believe you can do the same job they are performing DIY credit repair for a lot cheaper and in less time. I'm going to check into it a bit more, watch my blog!

You have a credit ratnig but it will be extremely low. The defaults will show for the next 6 years from the date they were issued. You can apply to add a note to your credit ratnig, saying that the debt was satisfied have a search on the Motley Fool website for advice on this.My advice would be to stay away from credit repair agencies. there is very little they can do, it's a matter of time. Basically, you won't be getting any credit for a good while unless it's at a very high rate of interest or from dodgy sources.

I don't think all credit repair companies are scam; however, you need to be cautious before you start working with a credit repair company.

No not always it will depend on many of the reason , company reputation , from how many year it is going on and average of customer will come to solve the problem. Bad credit repair is always done by reputed company.
