So i'm in the process of majorly cleaning up my credit and paying everything off. Validating and paying to delete in some instances.

I subscribe to true credit and it checks daily for new inquiries and changes, the other day I noticed a new inquiry from a P.A. Didnt match anywhere on my account so I googled the name and called the office. Then I spoke to a lawyer who looked up "my account" I referenced this to my report I had and was made to believe this was one credit card that I had not been able to track down ie its been sold so many times. So this lawyer goes on to tell me that they own the debt and wont settle for less infact I have to pay back all interest etc. This was a $200 bad credit, credit card that once you got it only had like a $20 limit and now I owe $800+ . I asked why my credit was pulled and he told me it was to try and find another address for me. Can they do that?

So I just sent them a credit validation letter. Ceritfied and all. What should I do next? He told me that they dont report anything the CB that they just go after judgements. So I suppose I can easily dispute this line to the CB because it should come back not validated since they dont own it?

Thanks so much

You should send a debt validation letter and see whether they are able to validate the debt or not. If they cannot validate the debt, dispute the listing with the credit bureaus and get it removed from your report. Even if they sue you to the court they cannot bring judgment against you, unless they are able to validate the debt properly.
