Repairing my credit

I'm trying to fix my credit but don't know where to start. I was thinking of joining a credit repair counseling agency until i came across this site. I received a letter to appear in court for one of my credit cards. On another card I had had $3000 max limit but lowered to $1000 ( which was what i owed at the time, don't know how much i owe now.) There is another card which i overdrew $350 and never paid. Other than those i have a few others that i would like to have removed. I live in NJ and any advice, suggestions, links, etc.

Hi,

You should not miss appearing in the court else the creditor or collection agency suing you may win a default judgment against you. If you are aware of this debt, you can try to negotiate a payment arrangement with the collection agency. However, before that you should check the statute of limitations (SOL) on this debt. If the SOL on this debt has expired the collection agency will not be able to win the judgment against you.

Can you give more details on the card with max limit lowered to $1000? What about the account on which you overdrew? What is the current balance on that account? Can you give more details on the other items that you want removed?

Thanks,

Aaron

Yes go to court. Actually go to court on Monday and look up the case so that you know what stage this is in.

Go to [urlhttps://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp[/url] and get hard copies of all your reports. it is important to get hard copies of all your reports so you have an accurate picture. You have the right to get at least one free copy each year of each report.
