i had some debt that had reached collection status but i have work with the collection agencies and have paid them off...how can i remove them from my credit report?

usually they will not remove them, only update them to state that they are paid in full. You could have made a deal with the collection agency in the beginning to have them removed before you paid it off, now that they are paid off there is no benefit for them to remove them.

How long ago was the pay off? Can you contact the collection agency that you paid to and ask them to remove it or do as cinnamngrl says and dispute it at the credit reporting site.

You can dispute them with the credit bureaus, they will ask for verification from the collection agency. The probability is that your collection agency may have purged your record and may not send any verification mail to the credit bureau.

When they do not receive any verification from the collection agency within 30 days, they are forced legally to remove it from your credit report.
