I HAVE 30,000 WORTH OF STUDENTS LOANS.
I HAVEN'T MADE ANY PMTS YET WILL IT INCREASE MY CREDIT SCORE IF I DO?

It may increase your score because it will lower the amount of debt you have. One of the aspects of figuring out your credit score is how much debt you have compared to how much income you recieve. That is only one part. Also any negative accounts and how long good standing accounts have been open.

Hi misspuff,

First of all can I know if you have missed any payments yet? What is the status of these loan accounts on your credit report? Are all these student loans federal or private? How old these loans are? All these factors can affect your credit score. So, please let me know these details. I will be able to help you then.

Thanks,

Aaron

Hi Claire,

IM STILL WAITING FOR THEM TO WRITE TO ME SO I CAN AGREE ON A PMT PLAN

There is no need to wait for them to write to you. You should immediately send the lenders a payment plan yourself through certified mail, requesting a return receipt. This is already hurting your credit!!! Check the status of these accounts from your credit report (you can get one from www.annualcreditreport.com).

Yes, making ontime payments does help in improving credit score. However, in your case you will have to rather repair your credit, because you have missed payments.

Thanks,

Aaron
