Average age of my accounts

Hi everyone :)

A Quick question.

If my wife adds me as authorized user on her credit card account she has for over 4 years, how does that look on my credit report? Will the 4 year old history show up on my credit report? Or does it show up as a recent account?

I have only 3 more credit accounts, one 2 years old, the other 2 are only a year old, so I thought that adding that 4 year old account might help because as I understand the lenders see my report and see the average age of my accounts.

Additional information: the account that she would add me to, has no balance, it's at $0 right now with a limit of $1000.

Hi Arima,

Yes, getting added as an authorized user on your wife's account will help in boosting your credit history, and score. That is the history of the account on which you are getting added will be listed on your credit report.

In your case the account on which you are getting added seems to have good credit history, and this definitely will help you in improving your credit. However, you should also try to improve your credit on your own by making ontime payments.

Thanks,

Aaron
