Hard inquiry

Hello All,

Recently I had 2 hard inquiries within 6 months listed on my report from a collections agency.

I sent them a DV and they were not able to produce any information that I requested. I challenged the listing information with the CRA's and they immediatly removed (deleted) the listing.

Being that this debt was never valid did the collections agency ever have permissible purpose to pull my credit report?

Hi Tanner,

Actually if you owe money to a creditor or collection agency they can pull your credit report for verification. A creditor can pull your credit report if you apply for a credit card and a collection agency can do it if you owe them the dues. For no other reason can the collection agency pull your credit report.

However, this is really good that you could remove the wrong listing :)

Thanks,

Aaron

Thank you for the response Aaron,

So if I never had any dealings with this company and never owed them any dues then just because they are a collections agency means they don't have the right to pull my credit report since I never owed them anything right?

Yes tanner, if you never had any dealings with this company or owed anything to this company the company is not supposed to pull your credit report. Sometimes, this can happen by mistake. In that, if you try validating the debt the collection agency won't be able to validate the debt. The debt as a result will be removed.

Thanks,

Aaron
