My father has a credit card debt 23,000 ,he moved to south america 6 years ago.
His only income is Social Security retirement.
His has a checking account in his name and mine.
His has a house in his name and mine.
He no longer lives in the US, I am living in the house with my disable husband.
The credit card is only in my fathers name, my name is there only as authority to speck to them.
I have been paying this credit card for almost 1 1/2 years, I can not any longer, if we want to have a roof over our heads, eat, pay medical. I just need some advise. My story is kind of long, if anyone can help me with advise and would like to know the whole story please let me know.
thank you

I think this may be a good case to ask a lawyer about. My question would be if a another party makes payments on an account, does it extend the SOL?

do you have all your credit reports?
what state are you in?
what is the original creditor and the name of the CA?
what is the date of first delinquency? 30 days after last payment

this information will help me make suggestions specific to your case. The state will determine the statue of limitations for this debt. knowing the name of the OC original creditor, will help show if there is a specific govt regulating agency that can help so rt out the truth. Knowing the exact dates is very important too.
