A man came to my door a about 9:45 p.m. tonight to serve me with "court papers".... the papers say that it is a summon for some debt I owe with capital one. The company is gamache & Myers. The dates on the summon are sept. 15, 2010. It says I have 20 days to respond. Today is now October 22, 2010. Clearly, it is past 20 days. What should I do?? Who should I contact??
Go to the court house and look for this file. this will tell you more. hopefully you will meet someone nice that can help. this will be file as a small claim? less than 5k
do you have all your credit reports?
what state are you in?
what is the original creditor and the name of the CA?
what is the date of first delinquency? 30 days after last payment
this information will help me make suggestions specific to your case. The state will determine the statue of limitations for this debt. knowing the name of the OC original creditor, will help show if there is a specific govt regulating agency that can help so rt out the truth. Knowing the exact dates is very important too.
No I dont have any credit reports. Im in arkansas. The orginal debt is through capital one...but some firm named Gamache & Myers is suing me... this debt is maybe only like a year old. I only owe maybe 1400 dollars and that's because of all the interest or what not that occured on the debt.
