The first step to take

Thanks to everyone for the helpful information provided in this forum. I have just received my credit report from all three agencies. Is the first step to addressing issues on it to write a DV (debt validation) letter to each creditor and wait for a reply before proceeding further? Also, I know from research that it is your legal right to receive your report once a year from each of three agencies, but does the same right apply for your credit score or is this something you have to pay for? I recently applied for a loan and was informed that for one of the agencies I had no score at all, it was a zero, can anyone explain why this would be? Thank you for any help provided.

#1 --You would send dispute letters to the credit bureaus reporting items that you don't believe are not yours, or that you already paid. Debt Validation letters should only be sent to collection agencies reporting accounts that you don't agree with the balance or they are not your accounts

#2--You can request your free reports from all 3 bureaus, but not scores. You have to pay for them.

#3--The only reason you won't have scores from a particular credit bureau indicates that no one has been reporting to them. You should try getting a secured credit card to re-establish credit.
