can a collection company refuse payments that you are trying to say you can give them right away and monthly

Send your payment offer in writing, this way both you and the collection company will have a record of your good faith effort to resolve the issue.

Using letters becomes extremely important if you have to defend your actions in court afterwards. Judges want to see what you have done to take care of the debt and written payment offers are strong evidence of your good faith. Keep copies of every letter you send and everything they send.

my concern about this advice is that, once you send a payment the statute of limitations is reset. If you send this "offer", be sure to not acknowledge responsibility for the debt
