A collection agency took me to court on 2006 and I went there and paid $25 dollar a month. But alas loosing my job ,I could not pay a dime. I have not heard anything at FL from them , but 2010 I got a job and move to WA. I found out they started garnishing my wages. I didnt receive any letter. After 7 months of garnishment my company told me the collection agency cannot garnish my wages because it was illegal and will return the money had been garnished. My question is ..can this collection agency again come back in the state of WA and garnish my wages? what should I do now. Please advice.
First step
Find out if the collection co has the right to collect in that state.
Next they can only take a certain % out of your check this is
state by state . And this is a big one only 1 garnishment at a
time can be taken out of your check. Or work it out with them
ask them what are my Option's
