My question involves collection proceedings in California. I have credit card debt with various banks and I haven't been able to pay them in 6-7 months. Most debts are still held in house, some have been charged off and assigned to other law groups and collection agencies. Do I have any time without making payments before they actually do asset searches and take legal action?

It would be better for you to contact with the CA’s and pay off their debts asap. If they want they can take legal action against you.
I personally think you should not keep so many credit card.
