I live in Rhode Island and I am late with my payday loan. Can they put me in jail for this? Some guy keeps calling me telling me he is a lawyer from ohio and that if I don’t pay today then I will be in jail tomorrow and he is going to call my job. Can anyone help?

Debts are civil case, not a criminal offense. So you can’t go to jail for non-payment of debt. What is the name of your pdl company? Is your lender licensed in Rhode Island? If not, then they won’t be able to take any legal action against you.
