I co-signed for a car for my ex girlfriend and we broke up she didn't make the payments when i was contacted by the company i told them i want to settle and they agreed and i settled i have records to prove this but they did not have it taken off my credit report so it still shows as a public record i asked them to report it as settled but they didn't do anything and it is affecting my credit can i sue them for this cause its causing a lot of stress for me
Why don't you dispute this negative listing with the bureaus? The credit bureaus will ask the creditor to verify your information just the same way as it's shown in your report. The bureau has to submit proof of such entries within a 30-day period.
Settling a debt and not removing it
Did you get a letter from the CA or OC regarding the settlement?
settling a debt and not removing it
well its listed as a public record and yes i made them print and hand sign a settlement letter i asked them before to remove it and they said they would but never did they never sent it to a collection agency they sued in small claims court.
settling a debt but not removing it.
How does the judgment read on your report? It is showing being paid? As far as having the record deleted, they won't usually remove an entry unless you negotiated that before you paid. Did this happen?
