Hey guys, do you believe they want 50 cents for a popcorn ball????????? get real. It has inspired me to make my own, made some tonight for a test run and all the kids will be getting a fresh batch for christmas. My four year old helped, it was alot of fun. I cheated a little, so here is the easy way.
Pop two bags of microwave popcorn (do not burn it!) Pull all the unpop kernels out and put it in a big metal pan. only put in a bag and a half, you can snack on the rest of save it for your next bunch.
In a sauce pan, take 1/2 cup of dark corn syrup, 1/2 cup of white granulated sugar and boil for about three minutes to melt the sugar.
Pour it over the pop corn and stir quickly with a wooden spoon, toss it around so the syrup mixture hits most of the pop corn so it sticks well together.
Heres the fun part, kid loved this.
Butter your hands, and grab a handful and crush it together into balls, this recipe make about 10 baseball size popcorn balls. They are REALLY good.
We are going to put some decorative touches on our next bunch that we will be making closer to christmas, but I am thinking they should stay fresh in a big zip lock. These recipe filled one 1 gallon bag. _________________ Goodnatured,

They are really good Laura, I was trying to come up with things to make besides cookies that my four year old could help me make. We are going to make rice crispy treats too and put green and red m&ms in them. I have coupons for the cereals and they are on sale this week, so I will get my ingredients to do them this week.
I am trying to come up with a way to color the pop corn balls, I am going to try mixing the food coloring in with the syrup before I heat it, I think that would be nice to have them at least three different colors. If it dont work out there is always colored plastic wrap these days, LOL. _________________ Goodnatured,

| Sounds like you are so active with your little girl, see while you say you are older, you are so young at heart with this child and you have to wonder, would you be as apt to do all this with her if you were younger. She will have so many happy memories with you and the things you do together. You say she is a blessing, I believe that you are a treasure to her also. A double blessing for both of you. |

I never had any of my own, all by choice. Then 3 and 1/2 years ago we got the call that she was in foster care and they wanted to see if we were interested in taking her. She had been in foster care for months at that point and they did not think that her parents were getting their act together, so we sold our harley and drove out to colorado and got her. I could not be happier, she has been a blessing to both of us. She is my husbands sons daughter. We don't hear from either of the parents anymore. I guess you could say that she brings out the kid in me. _________________ Goodnatured,

I would like the taffy recipe if you get it debt, that would be an awesome thing to do with the kid and my sister needs some activities for her PTA meetings when they have the parents and the kids there. That would be great for that bunch too.
I have to tell you, I gave a few of the popcorn balls to my brother, he said his mouth got stuck together and he gave one to the elderly neighbor and it pulled his false teeth out, LOL. I didn't have a problem and neither did the hubby or kid, I don't know if they tried to put the whole ball in their mouth or what, LOL. I lost it when he told me that. _________________ Goodnatured,

| So I should stay away from the popcorn balls if I don't have good dental coverage right? They sounded good, maybe they just took bigger bites than they should have, tell them to nibble, they are better when you savor them anyway. |

that is just down right hilarious. MAYBE if he put more than one ball in his mouth did he have a problem lol
as soon as my mummy gives me the recipe, i've been asking her for that for a long time now, i'll give all of you the taffy recipe. so versatile add any kind of food dye or any extract you want and there you go. it makes great gifts but you have to pull and cut or it will harden on you. NOW THAT WILL take your fillings out and any dental work you may have and i'm not kidding. it'll harden up like chewy cement |

| Don't you have to pull taffy for a long, long time? I will watch for the recipe and see if it is something that I would like to do. Sounds like it takes more than one person to do it. How long do you have to pull it? Sounds tiring? |

I think you do da, it would be easier with a few people, I want the recipe to try with the kid, she would really enjoy pulling it, but I hope she does not get board and leave me holding the bag, that would a disaster, I am willing to give it a shot though, come on debt get that recipe on here. lol. _________________ Goodnatured,

I found an easy peanut brittle on line, and a few other christmas candies that I would like to attempt to make, I have to find raw peanuts, don't know if the grocery store would sell them or not, have never looked for them. _________________ Goodnatured,
