Charge off removal

How do i get a charge off removed from my report. I have 3 and one i settled. The other two are in collections and those agencies are reporting them separately so i don't see why the charge off would still show. Expecially the one that was settled.

Hi ErikaC,

Debts are charged off by the original creditor after 180 days of delinquency. It is the original creditor who reports about the charge-off to the credit bureaus. Thus, it is the original creditor only who can remove the charge-off from your credit report.

Even if you settle and pay off the debt to the collection agency, the charge-off will remain there on your credit report for 7 years (just like any other negative items). If only the creditor would have pulled back the account from the collections (you are supposed to request that), and if you would have made the payments to the creditor along with the "Pay for delete" agreement, the charge-offs could have got removed.

However, is the one settled and paid showing a "Paid" status?

Thanks,

Aaron
