Credit Card Interest Rate

Submitted by Laura on Thu, 02/14/2008 - 07:22

Hi Everyone,

This is a question posed to you all. Dont you think that the sudden rate revisions by the Federal reserve was going to cut the interests down to consumers ease? Did it happen at all. I have noticed people being charged enormous rates without being given any valid reason for the hike. The business card holders have been affected the most. What are your views?

Payday loan help Fast!

Submitted by teresa on Tue, 02/12/2008 - 17:48

I had an internet payday loan with The Loan Shop/Westbury Ventures. I have paid 960 dollars on a 400 dollar payday loan. I stoped payment with my bank. Which then they changed their ACH name and withdrew 520 dollars. My bank has since credited me for that amount. I just received a call from Ms. Davis stating they are getting ready to file paperwork and I must send a 390 settlement amount to them by money gram today. I have paid 560 dollars over the original loan amount. The company states they are in Deleware, I am in arizona, isn't there a cap on charges.

Tax Refund Loans

I was wondering what everybody's thoughts were on the tax refund loans that are out around tax season, seems everybody is getting in on the action on that puppy, they are almost like the payday loans with the rates that they charge. Some places are charging over $100 for a small loan, it goes up with the amount of the refund. The intrest rate is unbelieveable too.

I don't think they are a good idea, I think some people look at it as it is just tax money, but it is your money that could be in your pocket instead of some loan company.

South West Finanical Lending anyone?

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Thu, 01/24/2008 - 00:34

I was looking for a personal loan online over the weekend and came across South West Finanical Lending. I filled out an online app and it came back I was approved for 10K even with bad credit.
They said because of my poor credit I either need a co signer or "loan insurance".They say if I get the insurance I get the loan.
I asked if the cost of the insurane would come off the 10K and was told they don't do that. They have to have the insurance prior to issuing the loan.
The've sent me a promisarry note for the cost of the insurrance ($2500)

Can a credit card company change the rate on a loan?

Submitted by Dadummy on Mon, 12/31/2007 - 03:01

if a credit card advertises a low rate for the life of the loan can they change it at a later date?

i get letters all the time but they say in the fine print they have the right to change the policy without notice, does that mean they can charge a higher rate on the previous loan for life. does anyone know which card is actually better to carry i see too much fine print in all of them.

Submitted by crackerjack on Sun, 12/23/2007 - 02:30

are you guys aware of any companies that offer student loan repayment? I am curious as to what to advise my son to do, we don't have the money for college and he does not really know what he wants to do anyway, trying to motivate this kids into some type of field that will offer some type of promotion and allow him to move up through the ranks. He is a bright kid, a good kid and just wanted to discuss options with him. any guidance would be greatly appreciate.

I know Sheetz offers it, anyone else know anymore right off hand?
