Hi dianes,

Opting for title loans has its share of advantages and disadvantages. However, if you have defaulted on the loan then, I believe you can talk to the lender and negotiate the time or the interest rate with him. Give him a clear picture of your situation. Otherwise you might even lose your car to the lender, since he will be legally authorized to take possession of your car and sell it.

Diane, The first step is to go to your lender and explain what is going on. Maybe there would be the possibility of incorporating the refinance fees into the loan itself. I would do this as soon as possible befor things get out of hand or it becomes last minute. Good luck.

I am in a bad situation. I owe on a title loan but they have no idea where I am. After they look but cannot locate me, will I be pulled over for a stolen vehicle? I intend to pay but they need to give me more time, so I am hiding my car.

Hi Chip,

If you can't pay of the loan now, you can ask for a "loan modification". You need to send a "loan modification letter" to the lender, mentioning about your current financial crisis. You should also mention that you are willing to pay off the loan. Make a copy of your monthly income and expenditure, and attach a copy of it with the letter. You will get a sample modification letter at .

Hope this helps.
