Always planned on paying this back

About a year ago, I got a PDL from cashnetusa for $400.00 in the state of OH. When it became due for payback, I asked them to wait until I made a deposit, which they didn't, causing me to be overdrawn. I had not heard anything until this last week when Great Lakes called my ex-roommate, looking for me, saying I was being investigated for fraud. Is this legal? I have always planned on paying this back, just fell on some hard times. Someone please save me from this ongoing panic attack.

it appears cashnetusa sold the debt as fraud is a crime, and criminal action is prohibited for a pdl,or loan in OH.also the call and stating that to another person is illegal.so i would contact cashnetusa, and find out the truth as again great lakes is a bottomfeeder that broke the law with the call.last thing.since the overdraw have you talked to them as communication is key and i think they sold it,but you must find out for yourself and call cashnet asap.

Great Lakes violated the FDCPA laws by disclosing your personal information with your ex-roommate. File a complaint against them to the SAG or FTC immediately.

Filing a complaint with the FTC or SAG is the only way out here. You perhaps have no other option.
