My wife and I are currently enrolled in a debt management program and after reading that a debt management program may be just as bad as bankruptcy I am a little concerned. The debt management company charges me 55.00 per month to handle my debt. What they do I myself can do that on my own by negotiating with the creditors on my own. Would that be a better option or should I just stick with the debt management company?

My ex and I broke up almosy 2 years ago and til this day he hasn't refinanced the car to get it off my name. The car loan is only under my name and I've been extremely patient and have given him enough time to refinance but he claims he can't get a loan bcz of bad credit. The problem is that the insurance is also under my name, he's gotten quite a few tickets, and the most recent thing is he hit a pedestrian.

Two of the same collection on report

I have a Wal-Mart/GE Money account that is charged off for $398. It was sent to Portfolio Recovery for collections where I paid it off. The Wal-Mart/GE money is still on my credit report as a charge off, and Portfolio is on there aswell with the same account as a 'Paid off; was in collection' status.

Can one of these be removed?

Are settlements good or bad?

I received a settlement letter for a debt that was $1336 and they offered to settle for $700, if I pay this as settlement amount will it still impact my credit report or score? Would it be the same as if I paid the full amount?

I am trying to pay everything off now and the letter sending method is lengthy, would calling them and trying to get items removed work?
