I have experience check system, car repression, and late payment on credit cards. How can I repair my credit without filing bankruptcy. I'm much older now and do understand the purpose of having good credit.

You can get one free credit report from each of the credit reporting agencies once per year.

Experian

Equifax

TransUnion

If you had been declined within the last 30 - 60 days you are also entitled to a free credit report. You can call the numbers I listed for each agency and put in a request for having been declined credit.

If you will be looking for employment you are also entitled to a free report - or even if you did apply for a job in which your report was pulled and you had been declined you are also entitled to a free report.

If you are living on public aid, you are also entitled to a free copy of your credit report.

Also if you had been a victim of ID Theft, you are entitled to 2 free reports per year.

Also if you have current creditors - they eventually pull credit reports every few months for a periodic account review, you can call the credit reporting agency when you know they have pulled and select the option for having been declined or had adverse action - get a free report this way.

Hi Juan,

You can get free credit report from www.annualcreditreport.com . After pulling a copy of your credit report, check the status of these accounts on it.

Try to negotiate a settlement with the creditors/lenders or the collection agencies. With debt settlement your outstanding debt amount can get lowered by 40-60%. Thus, it becomes much easier to pay off the debts. Send the letters through certified mail, requesting a return receipt. You will then be able to retain a proof of your settlement letter.

Thanks,

Aaron
