Can a company that is a CSO..threaten you with going to jail, having the d.a. issue a warrant for your arrest? Or is this a civil matter where they have to sue you in a court of law? I have been trying to find more info. For the consumer on this subject. But getting dead ends! Any suggestions or answers.

Debts are a civil case, not a criminal offense. So you can’t get arrested or go to jail for that. But if the company is legit, then they can sue you because of nonpayment of your debt. So it would be better for you to negotiate with them and if possible set up a payment arrangement with them.

You can even get your wages garnished if you don't make timely payments. Therefore it is certainly a better option to look for an alternative debt repayment schedule.
