In December of 08 I paid off all of my medical bills through Alliance One and NCO-Medclr. There were bills on my credit report from each company that were for the same amounts that I was assured were not the same bills but only the same amounts. Now I am showing that the doubles of these bills that are threw NCO are still not paid and still showing not paid. I feel as though I am being ripped off and over paying NCO for god only knows what reason. When I call NCO and tell then about it I am placed on hold for sometimes an hour at a time transferred to someone that they say can help me and then placed on hold yet again!!!!

A Consumer Guide to Handling Disputes with Your Employer or Private Health Plan, 2005 Update

If you have a medical billing dispute, you should contact the health care provider make sure they have all of your medical insurance billing information. You will want to write a letter to the medical insurance company as well. Follow up with phone calls and forward copies of any paper work they may need.

You may also find yourself disputing with the collection agency for the medical provider and the credit reporting agency as well.

Medical bills are considered open end accounts, they have a the same statute of limitations as a credit card type of account and can only remain on the credit report for 7 years from the initial date of default leading to the charge off.

Keep copies of all letters mailed to medical insurance and collection agencies for your records.

You can also try contacting a customer service rep for the credit reporting agencies and telling them that you think an account on your credit report has been doubled, and if they could remove the duplicate reporting.

If it is a duplicate it should show the same open date for both accounts, and show the same account number.

It is possible that both charges resulted on the same day.

If you don't have customer service dispute number, you will need to order a credit report 1st from the credit reporting agencies. Specifically a hard copy by mail. I know them reports definitely have the phone numbers.

Hi Devin,

If you have the proof of your payment you can use it to dispute the item off your credit report. First try disputing it with the companies that are holding the dues. Attach the proof of your payment with the letter. If they do not comply, you can try disputing it with the credit bureaus. Along with the letter to the credit bureaus, you should attach the proof of your payment. Contact information and address of the credit bureaus:

TransUnion
P.O. Box 1000
Chester, PA 19022

Equifax address
P.O. Box 740241
Atlanta, GA 30374-0241

Experian
P.O. Box 2104
Allen, TX 75013-2104 800-493-1058

You can also contact Alliance One and NCO Medclr and inquire into the details. However, send all the letters through certified mail requesting a return receipt.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Aaron
