I am trying to fix my husbands credit and have sent many validation letters to different collection agencies. My question is what happens if a collection agency does not reply to my letters within the 30 days from the moment they signed?
Someone please help me, I want to do this precess by myself I dont want to pay someone else to do the work.

Thank you

Hi Jenorlandi,

It is good to know that you have taken a step towards cleaning the credit report. I think you must wait till the collection agency validates the debt. Without validation, it will not be proved that the debt belongs to you and that the CA has got the authority in collecting the debt from you. Do not pay a penny without the CA validating the debt.

Hi jenorlandi ,

I am going through the debt validation process as we speak. I have done a lot of research on it and have heard a few times that even though you state in your dispute letter that you would like the debt validated within 30 days the collection company actually by law can take up to 60 days. Now I do not know if this is entirely accurate.
I also asked the question on a law site, where atty answer your questions, and asked what happens if a collection does not validate the debt. I was told I would still be legally responsible for the debt if there was a contract. I myself was a little confused on this. I thought if they did not validate they lost the right to collect but could sell it to another collector. Good Luck. If I find out more I will let you know.
