Even if you get and item removed from your credit report, isn't it possible another CA can purchase the debt and report it once again on your credit report?

Hi JPerry,

Whenever a debt is sold off to another collection agency the collection agency can report it once again to the credit bureaus.

Thanks,

Aaron

Well it's like you been saying @Aaron, that it is better to just pay off the debts and keep record of the receipts to avoid credit problems in the future. Point is: If the debt is yours pay it...validation or not? I'm just tired of the back and forth. My high score is 653 and my medium is 602 and I'm trying to get to 700+ within the next few years. I do have a few negative items to pay which they all are valid debts, including a judgment. So I feel I should just pay off all the negative items and continue to pay my current bills on time to accomplish my goal.

Hi JPerry,

If you know that owe a particular debt then theirs no point trying to validate it. However, if you know that you owe the debt but is unsure about the actual amount, or if you think that the collection agnecy is charging you illegal fees you can seek validation.

Yes, that is the point to improve your credit score. Though paying off old collections or delinquent accounts won't help much in regards to the score, your credit report will atleast show the "Paid" status. Moreover, if the creditors and collection agencies agree to "Pay for delete" (PFD), the negatives will be removed.

The judgment will stay though. After the payment the status will simply be updated to "Satisfied judgment".

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Aaron

If you haven't done this already, you get one free cridet report from each of the main cridet reporting agencies, each year. The only official site, which doesn't cost a penny is annualcridetreport.comThis is the site where you can get your free report each year, as required by federal law. You don't have to sign up and then cancel to avoid being charged, there is no charge. Don't sign up at any other site, even the major reporters sites either. They will charge you if you do not cancel. If you live in Colorado, Georgia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey or Vermont it says you are always entitled to a free cridet report by state law.
