How to delay MSJ on credit card debt?

Received MSJ yesterday for $8400 CC debt in which I had been in default. OC sued me last April. They used a Fl legal firm to take the case. And they used previous case law in Fl to go forward because I was unable to give reasons for the denials.
Apparently the case was signed off in Texas last July. Yet it was only mailed to me Wednesday.
I would like to delay the MSJ for as long as possible.
How can I do this? I was unable to settle because I have huge medical expenses for a hospitalization and now I am out of work. If the MSJ goes forward what would happen if I am unable to pay? I have heard that an OC does not have to show the original contract. Thus far they used one monthly CC statement to prove it is my debt.

Hi ecs,

Are you saying that the case was signed off? If so, then you have time to work out a repayment plan with the creditor. This is the only way I can see through which you can delay the creditor. Otherwise the creditor can go to court and get a judgment against you. After that you shall have to pay the debt. the creditor can also garnish your bank account and attach any of your assets to get the debt amount. The only way out for you will be to file bankruptcy, which is even worse than a judgment in your credit report.

I am not sure what you mean by signed off? Legal firm representing the OC is advancing the MSJ.
Do I need an attorney to work out a repayment plan if that was possible? Do you know how long it usually takes before the courts enter judgement against me following MSJ.
