I have retired from the U.S. Civil Service (Not Military). I find that I do not have enough income to continue to pay my credit card debt. Will the federal government allow credit card companies to garnishee my retirement pay?

Alimony and child support are not an issue, so you don't need to tell me about that.

I WATCH LATE TV ABOUT 2 ATTORNEYS HAVING OFFICES IN PANAMA CITY AND PENSACOLA, FLORIDA. THEY SAY THAT CREDIT CARDS CAN'T BE GARNISH FROM YOUR YOUR SAVINGS OR CHECKING ACCOUNT. IS THERE A LAWYER OUT THERE ON THIS SUBJECT, THAT CAN TELL ME FORSURE ON THE INTERNET, BRING ME UP TO DATE THIS INFORMATION ABOUT THIS. IT'S BEEN SINCE 2005 SINCE I OWED THIS MONEY, I TRIED PAYING AND BECAUSE I ONLY GET SOCIAL SECURITY. I'VE BEEN CASHING THE CHECK FOR 2 YRS. AS OF SEPTEMBER. I FINALLY CLOSED THE ACCOUNT AT THE TIME I WASN'T EVEN GETTING S.S. BUT MY DOCTOR HELPED TELL ME HOW TOO GET S.S. AND I GOT IT WITHIN 6 WEEKS. CLEAR UP TOO THEN MY SISTER LEANT MONEY TOO ME TO KEEP MY HEAD ABOVE WATER, IT'S A TERRIBLE WAY TOO LIVE, BUT I PAID HER OFF FIRST. I FINALLY MOVED IN WITH MY DAUGHTER AND GRANDSON. I PAY THE UTILITIES AND MY PERSONAL EXPENSIVES AND FOOD. I GIVE HER THE EXTRA $50 SHE GETS IN CHILD SUPPORT FOR THE DAD TO PAY BACK CHILD SUPPORT HE OWES ME. HE WAS TOLD IN COURT THAT EVERY YEAR HIS CHECK RECIEVED FROM INCOME TAX FORM THE CHECK WOULD GO TOO ME FOR BACK CHILD SUPPORT. HE WASN'T LISTENING IN COURT AND I GOT THE 2007 TAX CHECK . SINCE THEN HE DOESN'T FILE HIS INCOME TAX AND THE IRS DOESN'T SEEM TOO CARE. I'VE TRIED TO TELL THEM AND THEY DON'T CARE, I FIGURE BECAUSE HEOWE THEM MONEY. I'M GOING ON 63 YRS. AND I KNOW I'LL NEVER GET IT AND THERE'S NOTHING I CAN DO ABOUT IT. I'M IN BAD HEALTH AND MY GRANDSON GOES TOO KINDERGARTEN HE'S A BEAUTIFUL LITTLE BOY AND SMART AND I LOVE HIM AND HIS MOTHER SO VERY MUCH. PLEASE I CAN'T AFFORD TO FILE BANKRUPTCY FOR THE LAST 6 OR 7 CREDIT CARDS, SO CAN I GET A SAVINGS ACCOUNT OR NOT. PLEASE HELP ME. SINCERELY, LINDA LEE

I was reviewing my credit report and notice a collection inquires. I call the company and asked about it. It was for my husband hospital account. We have seperate medical coverage. My name is not on his account. Will this lower my credit score?

How Can I have the collection inquires removed from my credit report? .

As a state government civil servant can your state government retirement pay be garnished?

Can your bank accounts be garnished? and if they have been garnished, what can I do to get my money back?

Would it be wise to file a small claims lawsuit?

'GUEST' ...your retirement pay..are you talking an IRA or 401 (K) account? Depending on the situation. I don't know about alimony being attached from a retirment pay account. But, I DO know it's very possible they can take it from a 'regular' bank account (I've seen this done) and your wages from employment.
'ALMA'...can you please explain what sort of garnishment you are talking about? Thanks.

protected federal deposits have an electronic tag that identifies them as federally sourced. The bank is suppose to see this and protect the account
