can a work comp. settlement be taken for child suport?

I Got devorced in 2001 or02.had a work injury had sugery on my neck 4 leval fusion.Recived a settlement in 04 now my X-wife is asking for child suport from that settlement.She ia also going for the total amount of settlement not what I got.She has no lawyer & is doing this on her own.Is'nt that for my injury & futer care I still have trouble with neck??

Hi Robert,

Generally speaking Workers Compensation Settlement is not garnishable. However, there are exceptions. It can get garnished for alimony purposes and child support.

yes, if your wife has or gets a judgment then any settlement would be vulnerable to this.
