I was on SSI for five years and was told by an attorney that the small amount that I was receiving, that no one cold put a judgment on my house. I'm no longer on SSI because I GOT MARRIED, yet I'm still disabled, I now have of recent, 2 judgments on my property. They took SSI away because of my husband's income. IS THERE ANYTHING THAT I CAN DO TO REMOVE THOSE JUDGMENTS?

Hi jeaninebuchanan,

I think you can file bankruptcy if you wish to bring a stay order on your property. As soon as you file bankruptcy, your creditors have to cease any kind of activity to collect debt from you. Otherwise, they can take away your home based on the judgment. As far as the removal of judgment from credit report is concerned, it stays on your credit report for 7 years.
