I co-signed for a car for my ex girlfriend and we broke up she didn't make the payments when i was contacted by the company i told them i want to settle and they agreed and i settled i have records to prove this but they did not have it taken off my credit report so it still shows as a public record i asked them to report it as settled but they didn't do anything and it is affecting my credit can i sue them for this cause its causing a lot of stress for me

Why don't you dispute this negative listing with the bureaus? The credit bureaus will ask the creditor to verify your information just the same way as it's shown in your report. The bureau has to submit proof of such entries within a 30-day period.

well its listed as a public record and yes i made them print and hand sign a settlement letter i asked them before to remove it and they said they would but never did they never sent it to a collection agency they sued in small claims court.
