Score fluctuation

I recently pulled out my credit scores from two credit bureaus Equifax and Experian. The scores that I got from the two bureaus are 770 and 665 respectively. This is shocking to me. Can anybody please shed some light as to why this fluctuation happened?

Thanks in advance

Hi Mary,

Welcome to the Credit Magic community.

Credit score fluctuation is pretty common and you need not worry about it. But to find out why this happened in your case, you need to thoroughly check your credit report. FICO score of a consumer is calculated on numerous factors as is available in ones credit report. Some of these factors are:

Payment history
35%
Debt amount 30%
Length of credit history 15%
Types of credit 10%
Recent shopping for credit 10%

(To get a detailed explanation please refer to http://www.myfico.com/CreditEducation/WhatsInYourScore.aspx)

If your score happens to be a valid FICO score (check for the official FICO score seal) then you need to see if all the above mentioned factors in both the reports are updated properly. The updates are done as per the reporting of the credit grantors. Sometimes credit grantors do not report to all the bureaus and hence a few items show up as delinquent in the report. In that case you need to contact the credit bureau and ask them to update the reports.

Please let us know how we can assist you further.

Richard

Thanks Richard for the information.

Yes, the score that I recently pulled out are infact valid FICO scores. Till now I wasn't too much worried of all the details in my credit report. But yes, its time to start comparing my credit reports and dispute with the CRA if required.

I do that on a regualr basis. Just give it a start and you will find the results straight away. :)

My Credit Reports will always show a score for Equifax and Experian and state No score for TransUnion. This just happened recently. Years before I would always have a score for all three Credfit Bureaus. Thanx
