I have $25,000 in c/c debt. I am unemployed with no savings or retirement. I have a checking balance with $5.00 in it. I am married but the credit cards are in my name only. My wife and I own property, but it is in her name only. Can the c/c company put a lien on the property? What happens if they sue me?

If you have a joint property with your wife, then the credit card company can put a lien on the property. But if it is in your wife’s name only, then the credit card company can’t do that. The credit card company can file a lawsuit against you because of non-payment of debt. Once the court issues a judgment against you, then the credit card company can garnish your wages, paychecks or seize your property etc.
