I had an auto loan with Onyx accept corp back in. 1998, the vehicle was repossessed in 2000, and now , in 2014, a collection agency has put a claim on my credit report for $11,000 !!!! Is this legal'? The account was charged off in 2001, shouldn't I be free of this debt. . ?

since this is from 2000 and maybe earlier it is past SOL anyway.dispute the entry with CRA'S.do that asap as they can't legally put that on there.if the bottomfeeder verifies the debt then find a contigency lawyer.

Debts like these are considered zombie debts. If the first party collection agency is unable to contact you and settle, it is sold to the next collection agency and so on and so forth. I would recommend signing on with a credit repair service.
Write to your "Attorney General"
Write to your state's Attorney General office. Attach proof. After 7 years all negatives should be removed.
