I was looking into their services and wondering if anyone has had any contact with them in settling their debt?

I've used Halo and I thought they were great. I'm not sure how to explain it, but they seem to have some VERY knowledgeable people there yet still have that "small company" feel where they make you feel like you're concerns are their concerns. At one point they were very flexible in my payment schedule when I had to skip a payment due to some bad budgeting on my part.

Hi Guest,

Could you tell me more about Halo?

I think that the best way to repair your credit is to do it yourself. You are the only one that really cares about your credit report. This process takes a lot of patience and perseverance. Different techniques work for different people and cases. When you do it yourself the process is de-mystified and I believe you will less likely to get yourself back into credit problems. There is no easy way out of credit problems and if you could afford to pay someone to do all the work involved then how did you get into money trouble in the first place?

Not that you won't be spending money to repair your credit. Done correctly, you will spend $100 or so on postage. It will also take time. It should take a minimum of 3 months to make a significant point change in your credit score. You will need to be creative and persistent as well.

Dear Debbi, if these services were real, then why don't they charge per point score increase? I bet people would be happy to pay $2 or $3 dollars a point. But they don't. they charge all their fees up front and then tell the customer that they can't guarantee anything.

Well, cinnamngrl...they do have a guarantee. I am a new customer with them and they have a guarantee that if your score does not improve at all, then they will give me my money back. But that guarantee is useless since I am just two months in and I already have my new car!!! On their first round of disputes, whatever they do, they got my score up 38 points I think and my dealership approved me at Ford Credit for their special rate!!! I was waiting to see how they did before I responded to your comment, because I couldn't find cheaper credit repair on the net. And if you say it costs me $100 in postage to do it myself...I'd rather give them the extra $99 because my time is worth more that an additional $99.

I don't know exactly what the results will be. They told me it could go as fast as three months or up to a year. I think they plan on doing a credit check at either 6 month or one year mark. All I know is I am always mailing or faxing results to their disputes. I quit reading the results because it just stresses me out.
