I just got my credit report via online for transunion. i have 1 item I am not familar with that I am researching. Under this item there is a bold statement: Estimated date that this item will be removed: 1/2008.

Some unfamiliar accounts mostly negative information (Negative Account History, collections, bankruptcy, tax liens and other judgments.) remains on your report for seven years, in case of bankruptcy it remains up to 10 years. After 7 or 10 years it will be removed from your credit report. In the credit report they generate a estimated date when those negative info removed from your credit report.

Hi Jdub,

Its good that you are doing the research. If you find out that it has got nothing to do with your credit history go ahead and dispute that.

When was the last time that you had pulled out your credit report? Did you find that item on your file at that time?

Keep us posted.

Hi jdub

Dispute the item if you find it discrepant.
