I use to have old debt which was sent to CA some time ago.
I contact CA with intention to pay it off and got info that they do not hold my account anymore – debt was transferred back to original creditor.
I called original creditor, obtained account number, amount owned and send check to pay in full.
So, original account is closed and paid in full.
But what about CA negative mark on my CR?
Should I dispute as an outdated or inaccurate?
What kind of statement should I use to? Only prove I have, is a copy of canceled check, payable to original creditor.
Thank you for any help and advise.

Hi Mefisto04

Since both the CA and the OC ha reported the same debt and you have settled the debt with the OC, you may dispute the record that your report is showing and any inaccurate information is supposed to be removed from your credit report. IMO dispute the debt. It will not be your responsibility to prove that you don't owe the debt but the responsibility of the CA to prove that they own it and that you still owe the money. Don't worry, things will fall in place very soon.
