I have a charge off from chase that i want to get off my credito report. Here is the history that appears in my report:

Charge Off as of Jul 2003 to Jun 2004
180 days past due as of Jun 2003
150 days past due as of May 2003
120 days past due as of Apr 2003
90 days past due as of Mar 2003
60 days past due as of Feb 2003
30 days past due as of Jan 2003

How can I get this remove? I live in Fl I thing the SOL is 4yrs

Florida is 5 years I think. Well if you want to get a charge-off removed, you must talk to your creditor. Speak with them and ask them to delete this information from your report in return of a payment. Don't make a hasty offer. Consider your finances properly and then make the offer. Remember the creditor will try to negotiate the amount so offer accordingly.

Even if past the SOL? is this record going to go off my CR in Jan 2010? since it was late in Jan 2003. The amount it was charge off was $3200,, how much should I offer?

I am not in a hurry for any new loans or credit cards. I already on a plan to cancel all my Credit Cards...

Miamga, If you can not afford to pay this debt then I would advise you not to make a payment. It would be past the SOL and if you make a payment it will start the SOL all over. It should fall off in 2010.
If you can pay the debt AND the original creditor still owns it then you can pay if you want...just remember once you do you will have to pay it off because you are no longer protected.

A word on cancelling all your credit cards...if these accounts are in good standing you can do more damage to your credit score by cancelling out the cards.

Hi miamga

Even if a debt is past the SOL, you still owe it and once you make a payment on a delinquent account, it resets the SOL. Yes, your debt should fall off by 2010 but if you don't want to wait that long and would like to see your report move up, you could try and negotiate with them for an amount you think you can afford to pay back. If they agree to your offer get it in writing and also get them to delete that record from your report.

How many credit cards do you have? I guess canceling them wouldn't do you much good. You could cancel one or two and keep the rest using the minimum limit on your card. Use your card sensibly and only up to an amount you know you can afford. Don't overspend.

Thank you Carol and Fireyone.....

As I said I am not in a hurry for a new loan I can wait until 2010. Right now, I have 4 credit cards with balances and 2 with a balance of zero. Ever since my financial problems about ten years ago, I been trying to build my credit, but all the mayour credit cards would not approve me, all I have been able to get approved are credit cards with small credit limits, for example: one has a credit limit of $700 and I owe $400, so my credit availability is very low. My total debt is around $10K. I implemented a plan to pay off all my debt on a rollover plan, paying the minimum on all my credit cards with the high balances, and paying the maximum that i can each month on the lowest balance credit card, then I will apply that payment plus the minimum to next and so forth until I pay off all my cards. By the way my credit score is 688.

Wow, that is a good score for having delinquent accounts. I would leave well enough alone and let them fall off.
